Bioarag debuts on the capital markets with a green bond programme on MARF

28 July, 2021

Biodiésel de Aragón (Bioarag) has registered its first fixed-income securities issuance programme for a total amount of 10 million euros on BME's fixed income market, MARF. This new continuous issuance programme will allow Bioarag to access new funders by issuing medium- and long-term bonds over the next 12 months. Bioarag will structure the bonds to be issued under the Programme to qualify as "green instruments" in accordance with ICMA Green Bond Principles and following the second party opinion granted to the Programme on July 1st by Serfiex.

EBN Banco de Negocios is the Coordinator and Placement Entity of the Programme. EBN will be also the Paying Agent of the issuer during the life of the bonds and its Registered Advisor on MARF.

Law firm Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Abogados has participated as legal advisor in this new programme.

Axesor Rating has assigned Biodiésel de Aragón a long-term corporate rating of BB-, stable outlook, and BB to the bonds to be issued under the programme.

Bioarag is the sixth sustainable bond issuer on MARF. "This market has opened up the possibility for smaller companies to access capital markets, including through green bonds," says Gonzalo Gómez Retuerto, managing director of BME Renta Fija and MARF.

Biodiésel de Aragón is a company incorporated in 2006 specialising in the production, storage, commercialization and distribution of biofuels and, in particular, double counting and advanced biodiesel, as well as its raw materials, by-products and other derivatives obtained from plant and animal wastes that do not compete with food crops. Through its plant in Huesca, Bioarag produces about 60,000 tonnes/year of biodiesel, both for its own production and for maquila, which it distributes to large international petrochemical groups and other leading companies in the hydrocarbons and agribusiness sector.

Biodiesel de Aragón achieved a turnover of 48.5 million euros and an EBITDA of 3.6 million euros in 2020.
