20 October, 2021
  • The Brazilian energy company will be the 19th to be listed on this international market for Latin American securities
  • The virtual bell ringing will be led by João Marques da Cruz, CEO of EDP Brazil, and Jesús González Nieto-Márquez, General Manager of Latibex

Electricity company EDP Brasil will list on Latibex, the international market for Latin American securities operated by BME, on 27 October. It will be the ninetieth company to be listed on this market and the eleventh from Brazil. To celebrate the listing a virtual bell ringing will take place on the same day at 12.30 h (CET).

From Sao Paulo, the CEO of EDP Brazil, João Marques da Cruz, will connect with  Jesús González Nieto-Márquez, General Manager of Latibex, in the Madrid stock exchange, to hold a remote bell ringing. During the gathering the company will describe its business plans and growth prospects. Access to the presentation will be available through this link or via this alternative one.

This listing on the market reinforces the role of Latibex as a gateway between companies and investors on both sides of the Atlantic and showcases the growing interest of Latin American companies in the European financial markets.

EDP Brasil is one of the largest private electricity companies in its sector. It operates the entire value chain and has operated in Brazil for more than 20 years. The company has over 10,000 direct and outsourced employees and deals in Generation, Transmission and Energy Services Solutions aimed at the B2B market, such as solar generation, electric mobility and the free energy market. In 2020, it was named the most innovative company in the electricity sector by the newspaper "Valor Econômico" and has been part of the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) for 15 consecutive years.

The trading code of the company, which has a market capitalisation of 12 billion Brazilian reais, about 1.9 billion euros, will be "XENBR".

The company will be included in the FTSE Latibex All Shares and the FTSE Latibex Brazil indices. It will also be eligible for inclusion in this market's selective index, the FTSE Latibex Top.

Auriga Global Investors will act as a specialist broker for the stock.

Latibex was created in 1999 and is the only international market focused exclusively on euro-denominated Latin American securities. This exchange brings European investors closer to the Latin American region, through a solid and secure market, which is supported by the Spanish Stock Exchange’s trading and settlement platform. Following the listing of EDP Brazil, Latibex now features eleven Brazilian companies, six from Mexico, two from Argentina and one from Peru. The return on the FTSE Latibex Top index so far this year is more than 14%.

The twenty-third edition of the Latibex Forum, the benchmark event that brings together companies and investors from Latin America and Europe, will be held from 22 to 24 November. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference will once again have a virtual format and EDP Brazil will be represented.
