BME and BBF Fintech launch the second edition of Hack & Disrupt! and leverage Bilbao as a fintech innovation centre

• The hackathon, during which challenges on sustainable finance will be solved on 1 and 2 April in Bilbao, will award 5,000 euros in prizes
• The second edition leverages the Bilbao financial centre as a hub for innovation and technological discussion in the financial sector

Following last year's success, BME and BBF Fintech will on 1 and 2 April organise the second international edition of Hack&Disrupt!, the fintech and insurtech hackathon, during which challenges in sustainable finance are solved. The event will take place in the Bilbao stock exchange and at BBF's headquarters, the Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria. The event will bring together companies, students, entrepreneurs and startups to solve technological challenges and will award 5,000 euros in prizes.

On Friday, 1 April, at 12:30 hrs, the institutional opening will be held, with the participation of Javier Hernani, CEO of BME; Ainara Basurko, Member of the Provincial Council for Economic Promotion; Xabier Ochandiano, Councillor for Economic Development, Trade and Employment of the Bilbao City Council, and Lander Beloki, Dean of the University of Mondragón.

This will be followed by the round table discussion "Ethical finance as a value proposition", which will have the presence of Berta Ares, General Manager of BME Inntech; Nora Sarasola, Director of Social Welfare Fund at the BBK Foundation, and Óscar Ugarte, General Manager of Seed Capital. At 13:45 hrs there will be a speech by Mikel Garcia-Prieto, from Triodos Bank Spain.

At 16:30 hrs the challenges will be presented at the Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria, followed by the team division and the experience table, which will feature training and mentoring sessions. On 2 April, in the same place, the solutions will be presented to the jury (at 17:00 hrs), the prizes will be awarded (18:00 hrs) and there will be an informal closing and networking session (19:00 hrs).

Plaza Financiera Bilbao, Bilbao City Council, BBK, Mondragon Team Academy and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia  collaborate in the second edition of Hack&Disrupt!
