Jorge Yzaguirre, new chairman of AIAF and Manuel Ardanza, new chairman of MAB

BME has appointed the current director of the Equities and Derivatives markets operated by BME, Jorge Yzaguirre, as the new Chairman of AIAF, BME’s Private Fixed Income market, replacing Francisco Oña, who steps down on retirement grounds.

BME has also appointed the Chairman of the Bilbao Stock Exchange, Manuel Ardanza, as Chairman of the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil (MAB), replacing Antonio Giralt, who is also leaving the company due to retirement.

Jorge Yzaguirre is currently the Director of the Equities and Derivatives markets of BME and Chairman of MEFF, the Spanish Derivatives market. He is also a member of the ESMA Secondary Markets Standing Committee Consultative Working Group and has a PhD in Economics and Business Studies from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid.

Manuel Ardanza joined the Bolsa de Bilbao in 1990, where he was appointed Market and Supervision Director and has been its General Manager since the year 2000. In 2014 he was appointed Director and General Manager of the Stock Exchange and later on, in 2015, he was appointed its Chairman. Prior to joining the Bilbao Stock Exchange, Ardanza worked as a lawyer and business consultant.

Antonio Zoido, Chairman of BME, thanked Francisco Oña and Antonio Giralt for their work over the years in the BME Group and their contribution in developing the securities markets in Spain and positioning it at the forefront of the sector. "Francisco Oña has been one of the protagonists in the Spanish Fixed Income market, especially for more than two decades at the helm of AIAF and one of the most active promoters of the creation and development of BME. For his part, Antonio Giralt has worked in the Spanish stock market since he joined the Barcelona Stock Exchange in 1981 and his perseverance, responsibility and consensus-oriented attitude have been very helpful over the last few years".
