BME collaborates with APIE in a training course for journalists
A few days ago, the main classroom at Instituto BME hosted a course organized by the Association of Financial Information Journalists (APIE) aimed at professionals who report on financial markets. This was a new day in the series of training courses focused on the search for relevant information, use and handling of data in the different fields of journalism that APIE has been organizing in recent months.
The course, which was attended by around thirty journalists both in person and online, began with a training session given by Enrique Castellanos, director of the BME Institute. He explained issues such as how financial markets work, opening and closing auctions, volatility auctions, types of orders, the different types of trading in listed companies and the formation of indices.
After Enrique Castellanos, it was the turn of Jorge Fuentes, international equity manager at Bestinver, who explained his daily work when analyzing companies, searching for information and making investment decisions with it.
The APIE, founded in 1973, is a non-profit professional organization that seeks to ensure the independence and objectivity of news content, defend the professional freedom of its members, promote information transparency of institutions and companies, and develop activities that broaden the knowledge and training of its members.
“Promoting financial literacy is one of BME's main objectives. To this end, it is essential to collaborate with the media, through which information reaches society. A better-informed society will make better investment decisions, which has a positive impact on financial markets and the economy as a whole," explains Enrique Castellanos, Director of Instituto BME.
Instituto BME offers 210 courses and master's degrees per year and more than 135,000 students have passed through its classrooms since its creation. For the last two years, BME's training offer has been completed by Braindex, BME's 100% financial information platform.
