BME Scaleup as an interesting exit route for venture capital investors

On April 3, the new BME Scaleup marketplace was presented at the Madrid Stock Exchange to more than 100 investors from Faraday Venture Partners. Several startups, included in Faraday's investment portfolio, also attended the presentation. Since 2011 Faraday has combined an investment club structure with venture capital fund management.

BME Scaleup is an attractive alternative for both investors and young companies. It is a new marketplace, whose listing requirements, terms and costs are tailored to smaller companies, in this way helping them  t take the first steps in  the stock market.

BME Scaleup, like BME Growth, ,  the well-established SME Growth market in Spain, provides liquidity to investors who have placed their trust in  these companies in their early stages. In March, the first two REITs (SOCIMIs) were launched in BME Scaleup, Alfil Patrimonial and Solvento. Investors and startups linked to Faraday looked forward to meeting the first companies from other sectors to join this new segment.

The debate focused on how companies should manage  liquidity, and take care of their relationship with business angels so that these firms can divest assets without negatively affecting their share price.

The event also featured a presentation of the Pre Market Environment, BME's education and networking platform, which helps companies to learn more about the listing process while improving their knowledge and relationships in order to accelerate their process towards the stock market.

The investors attending were also very interested in the securities listed on the bigger market segment, BME Growth. They were able to find out investment opportunities at this time of historically low valuations, which contrast with the very solid fundamentals of many of their listed companies.
