Invest in Latibex: Access the Potential of Latin American Companies

Invest in Leading Latin American Companies

Investing in leading Latin American companies is as straightforward as trading any security on the Spanish Stock Exchange. Latibex enables investors to buy and sell shares in companies from the region through a single euro-denominated market, with the same standards of transparency, security and efficiency as those offered by the Spanish market.

Trading takes place through the Spanish Stock Exchange Interconnection System (SIBE SMART), and settlement occurs on T+2 under the same operating conditions as for all other securities listed in Spain. In addition, the connection with the markets of origin through Iberclear and Latin American central securities depositories or linking entities ensures that the securities traded on Latibex are the same as those issued in their country of origin.

Trading is supported by most Spanish Stock Exchange members and by specialists that help promote liquidity by continuously quoting bid and ask prices.

Listing on Latibex: Benefits for Latin American companies

A Single Currency: The Euro

Securities are traded in euros, like other securities listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange.

Liquidity

A specialist, or market maker, is an intermediary appointed by the company, who is responsible for providing continuous liquidity to the market.

Connection With Latin American Markets

Through a linking entity or between central securities depositories, this connection structure facilitates the exercise of shareholder rights.

How Do You Trade on Latibex?

From an operational standpoint, securities listed on Latibex are traded and settled just like any other security listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange: the same intermediaries provide electronic trading through SIBE, settlement takes place within the same time frames and under the same conditions, and the same fees apply.

Thanks to the operating procedures established for the various Latin American markets, the securities traded on Latibex are the same as those issued in their market of origin.

Interesting information for investors

A Liquid Market

Specialists (market makers) are intermediaries appointed by companies to support liquidity in securities listed on Latibex. They continuously quote bid and ask prices, help narrow spreads and align prices with those of the markets of origin, thereby contributing to more efficient trading. Although most companies have a specialist, this role is not mandatory.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Latibex, shares are traded and settled in euros, so European investors do not need to buy or sell foreign currency in order to trade. This eliminates the costs and operational procedures associated with currency exchange.

In the Spanish settlement system, transactions involving securities recorded through book-entry form are settled on a T+2 basis, meaning two business days after the trade date. Clearing and settlement are carried out through a single central securities depository, Iberclear.

Transactions executed on Latibex are settled through a custodian entity that is a participant in Iberclear and maintains the securities accounts and cash balances required for the member's activity in Latibex. In other words, Latin American members do not settle directly with Iberclear; instead, they must enter into an agreement with an authorized Spanish custodian, which settles transactions on their behalf. The requirements and contractual framework are established by Iberclear in Circular No. 2/2002.
