MONTHLY TRADING STATEMENTS FOR BME’S MARKETS
- The volume traded in Equities so far this year is 4.6% higher year on year
- Fixed-income trading in September amounted to 10 billion euros, up 52,4% from the preceding month
- Trading in Futures contracts on the IBEX 35 ® index increased by 6.2% in the first nine months of the year
The Spanish stock market traded 24.2 billion euros in Equities in September, down 25.1% year on year and up 27.1% from the preceding month. The trading volume for the first nine months of the year increased 4,6%.The number of trades in September was 2.8 million, down 24.3% from September 2021 and up 23.8% from August 2022.
BME's market share in Spanish equities stood at 61.40%. The average spread in this month was 6.90 basis points at the first price level and 9.91 basis points with order book depth of 25,000 euros, according to an independent report by LiquidMetrix, available here: Reports DR (EU) 2017/575 | BME Exchange. All figures include both transparent order book (LIT) trading – including auctions – and non-transparent (dark) off-book trading.
The volume traded in September in the Fixed Income markets reached 10 billion euros, up 52.4% compared to August. New issues, including Public Debt and Private Fixed Income issues, amounted to 37.7 billion euros, which implies a 116.2% increase compared to the same month the previous year.
The outstanding balance stood at 1.79 trillion euros, up 4.2% so far this year and up 3.5% year on year.
The Financial Derivatives market traded 3.71 million contracts in September for a notional amount of 40.6 billion euros. Trading in IBEX 35 ® Futures increased by 6.2% in the first nine months of the year, in Mini IBEX Futures by 9.5% and in Stock Options by 7.7%. In September, the volume traded in Stock Options grew by 3.4% year on year.
There was an increase in the trading of Stock Dividend Futures, with 6,000 contracts traded compared to 400 in September 2021, an increase of 1,614.3%.
