BME, operator of the equity, fixed income and derivatives markets in Spain, has set the trading calendar for 2026.
It has agreed to consider the following days as non-trading days for operational purposes:
On 24 and 31 December the BME markets will trade until 14:00 hrs CET.
The trading calendar determines the days and hours when markets are open for trading. Transactions can only be executed during these periods, so the calendar directly impacts order execution, liquidity, and price formation.
On public holidays or outside trading hours, orders can be entered but will not be executed until the next trading session, which may lead to changes in prices or market conditions.
Therefore, knowing the trading calendar is essential for proper investment planning and effective risk management.
The stock market calendar is adjusted to national public holidays and certain non-trading days. In Spain, the Madrid Stock Exchange and other markets operated by BME remain closed on major national holidays such as New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Labour Day, Christmas Day, and Epiphany, among other dates updated each year.
In addition, some sessions may operate with reduced trading hours, such as on December 24th or 31st.
It is therefore advisable to check BME’s official trading calendar each year for detailed information on trading and non-trading days.
