Markus Habbel has been the Chief Financial Officer and a Member of the Executive Board of SIX since June 2026. He brings three decades of international experience in finance, strategy, transformation, and leadership across the financial services industry.
Before joining SIX, Markus Habbel was Senior Partner and Senior Vice President at Bain & Company in Zurich, where he was responsible for the Global Wealth and Asset Management sector as well as Financial Services Market Infrastructure. In this role, he advised leading European financial market infrastructures and wealth managers on strategy, technology transformation, AI initiatives, and M&A.
Prior to Bain, Markus Habbel held several senior finance leadership roles at UBS, including CFO Global Wealth Management and CFO UBS Group EMEA. He began his career at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Partner and leader in the Corporate Finance Practice, as well as at Morgan Stanley.
The German citizen holds a PhD in Economics from Martin Luther University and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Heidelberg
