Sponsor of OFISO Annual Meeting

For the past year, BME has set itself the goal of becoming a center for sustainable finance through various initiatives. As part of this strategy, it is once again sponsoring the Annual Meeting of the Observatory for Sustainable Finance (OFISO), of which it has been a member since its creation in 2019

The meeting, which was held at the Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid, welcomed around one hundred professionals and operators in the sustainable finance market. It also had representation from regulators, authorities and public and private companies committed to this modality of fundraising, which has gained exponentially in importance in recent years

Carmen López, head of indices at BME, participated in one of the round tables dedicated to greenwashing or "ecopostureo", which identifies measures that seek to use the sustainability label in a self-serving manner. In his speech, he referred to the importance of the indexes to independently identify best practices and the importance of the new regulations in ensuring that this process is carried out according to the best standards.

The day also saw the presentation of awards for best practices in sustainable financing, which went to the Government of Navarra, ING, Redeia, Aqualia, the Republic of Uruguay and Helena Viñes, director of the CNMV and head of the European Union's Sustainable Finance Platform, the latter for her track record. Gonzalo Gómez Retuerto, CEO of BME Renta Fija, participated in the awards ceremony.

BME maintains a close relationship with OFISO, of which it has been a member since its foundation. It has also launched the first Expert Course in Sustainable Finance through Instituto BME, which has been very well received.
