Irene Rodríguez, BME's Director of Sustainability, has been appointed to represent Spainsif Group 3 in one of the vice presidencies of its board of directors. Group 3 is made up of SRI service providers and related academic centers.
The appointment was made on June 10 following a vote during the entity's General Assembly. The members of Group 3 will be representatives of EY and EQA. During the session, the Association's governing bodies were renewed, with more than 100 representatives from financial institutions, asset managers, service providers and academic institutions, not-for-profit entities and major trade unions.
This appointment consolidates BME's role as a market infrastructure committed to rigorous sustainability, connected to the operational reality of the financial system and the challenges of the entities that make it up. From this perspective, he will represent Group 3 as a whole, bringing an institutional and informed vision to the Forum's strategic debates. “The participation in the Board of Directors will allow us to transfer the experience accumulated in areas such as the development of sustainable products, data transparency, support to issuers or the articulation between regulation and market”, says Irene Rodriguez.
Spainsif is the meeting and reference platform for sustainable finance and investment in Spain, whose primary mission is to promote the integration of environmental, social and good governance criteria in investment policies through dialogue with different social groups, contributing to sustainable development, as well as to raise awareness and promote changes in investment processes in the investment community, public administrations, companies and the general public.
BME has been a member of Spainsif since March 2024.
BME's active participation in Spainsif's governance is part of SIX's strategic objectives, aimed at facilitating a more attractive, efficient and better prepared market environment to respond to the challenges associated with sustainability, and above all to take advantage of its opportunities. This new role reinforces BME's vocation to act as a meeting point between issuers, investors, regulators and other players in the financial ecosystem, contributing to the construction of shared solutions from its institutional position.
