Simulation SMART

Backtest and Validate Your Trading Strategies in a Simulated Environment

What Is the Simulation Environment?

MEFF provides Members and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) with a simulation environment where they can develop, test, and validate applications before operating in production.

Members can access this environment through the secondary communications line.

Who Can Access?

You can request access to the simulation environment if you are:

  • A MEFF member.
  • An entity in the process of becoming a member.
  • An Independent Software Vendor (ISV) developing solutions connected to the platform.
  • A member using the colocation service.

Users connected via colocation, as well as entities in the process of joining and ISVs, can access the environment without the need to install additional hardware by using the HF MEFFGates located at MEFF's facilities.

Available Versions

The simulation environment typically runs the same version as the production environment.

In addition, future versions of HF MEFFGate that are in the pre-deployment phase may be available. This allows participants to adapt and test their applications before new versions are released into production.

Access Credentials

To connect to the simulation environment, Members and ISVs require a user code consisting of:

  • A member code.
  • An operator code.

Example Codes

In production, member codes follow the format:

A123

In the simulation environment, the initial letter A is replaced with a T:

T123

If multiple simulation environments are available, MEFF will provide the corresponding connection parameters for each environment.

Environment Identification

The FIX protocol includes a field in the Logon message that indicates whether the user is connected to the production environment or to a test environment.

Access for Prospective Members and ISVs

MEFF will assign a temporary member code to entities that are in the process of becoming members and to ISVs that require access to the simulation environment.

Available Data

The initialization data loaded into the simulation environment typically includes the same contracts available in MEFF’s production environment, making it easier to conduct tests under conditions that closely resemble real-world market operations.
