XIV Economics Olympics
For yet another year, BME is collaborating with the Spanish Economics Olympiad as part of its commitment to financial education, which is one of the pillars of its sustainability strategy
On May 10, the awards ceremony was held at the regional phase in Madrid, where Domingo García Coto, Director of BME's Research Department, took part in the prize-giving ceremony.
BME participates in the initiative through the Research Department and Instituto BME by sponsoring prizes for the best-ranked students, teachers and schools. In the last two editions, the prizes have consisted of Braindex courses, the 100% online financial training platform for all types of students and backgrounds.
Forty-four Faculties of Economics and Business participate and collaborate in the development of the XIV Spanish Economics Olympiad, which will hold its National Phase at the University of Seville from June 19 to 21, 2023, in which the first fifteen students classified in the Madrid Olympiad will participate.
The Spanish Economics Olympiad is an academic and educational competition, whose main objective is to stimulate the study of Economics and Business among young people in their second year of high school. It also aims to serve as a meeting point between universities, secondary schools, high school economics teachers and students interested in the subject.
The test of the Madrid Olympiad consisted of a multiple-choice exam and three practical exercises, which were corrected anonymously by an evaluation committee formed by members of the five organizing universities: Alcalá, Autónoma, Carlos III, Complutense and Rey Juan Carlos. In addition to the students with the best results, the school with the five students with the best scores was also awarded.
The Olympiad not only recognizes and rewards the work of the students, but also that of the teachers who promote their participation and help them prepare for the tests.
In addition to the awards and prizes, the top finishers also receive an exemption from university tuition fees for their first year at university.
BME considers that the promotion of financial culture is part of its social reason and supports different initiatives with this objective.
